I woulda never believed it, if I hadn't seen it!!!!!

So I told you all about the view out of the window at Aurora and some of the amazing things that you see on the Haung Pu river. All the boats, freighters, tugs and ships. Well, now there is a new "ship" that you can see looking out the window. The pilot for this ship is an absolute daredevil. Baron Von Richthofen has nothing on this guy!!!! He flies all over Shanghai and then up and down the river, sometimes as low as 50 feet above the water!!!!!! He will turn this thing on a dime and I have to say that I never saw anything like this in America. As you can see in this photo, he is below our window, which is the 23rd floor or about 230 feet. Only in Shanghai, I do believe could you experience such a thing. Just as an FYI, the picture was taken after hours and while we were waiting to have a conference call. So absolutely no work was interrupted by the actions of the photographer, in case any of your were wondering!!!!! All for now everyone.....have a great day and take care.

Me too Andrea . . . except for my fear of heights! Great picture John!

Is this like a single-manned, miniature blimp? I can't really tell from the picture, but I wouldn't think a full-sized blimp would be flying so precariously along a river at 50 ft., and be able to turn on a dime. You sure this isn't just a picture stuck to the window?????????? Therefore, making it an optical illusion? Guess I'll really never know for sure............ha, ha, ha......

Yes it is a real blimp and it is full size. You can trust me on this one!!!! Kurt and others have seen this as well. What the pilot tries to do is touch his tie down ropes in the water. This puts him at the 50 foot level.

Tie ropes on the water? What is he, nuts? Any bridges he has to worry about.......or does he go under them? Just kidding ! ! ! !
People bunjee jump from higher than 50 feet........who'd a thunk? How wide is this river than he can turn on a dime? I remember seeing the pic from earlier blog from across the river, but I'm not good at guestimating distances.

Some troublesome weather here last evening. Power outages in Byron, high winds, possible tornado. It was dark and rainy in Owosso, but no high winds.

Take care and keep on blogging.....

Do you realize that your half-way through your 90 days? I was thinking about that yesterday! The aisle is still very quiet without you. You've got some mail piling up on your desk.

BIG NEWS FLASH: Owosso goes Hollywood! AKA's husband was on TV last night! Actually, the 11:00 news (no, he wasn't arrested). Watch out Will Ferrell -- new star on the rise!

Lori-you are too funny ! ! ! ! Unfortunately, television doesn't pay as much as the BIG SCREEN....., but now David's Flint TV appearance is known in Shanghai and he doesn't even realize it.

Greg Gohl said I should tell David he had mustard on his face.....

John, see all the excitement you are missing?

The sights and sounds of another country are truly amazing, as are the work habits that allow some folks to watch the antics of the local Goodyear blimp pilot! Just kidding John! You'd probably be in first place in the golf league if it would stop raining here!!

This is great stuff! Thanks for keeping us in the know. BTW, I heard that your Grand Blanc "home improvement" project is going well at the house. The livingroom carpet is still wet, but that should dry out in plenty of time for your return. Oh, and you just need to be careful when you sit down. I guess it's not totally stable, and rocks a bit..... :-)

Lori and Anita- I see all the excitement that I am missing and just let me say that it may be quiet in Grand Blanc but it is noisy here!!! It must be because of me, Hmmmmmm.

Anita-the river is about a quarter mile wide and has lotsa ship traffic. The Haung Pu is kinda like a ship freeway.

Michelle-Is there some kinda demolition going on at my house that Pam has not told me about?????

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......All for now. meetings to start on Saturday morning!!!!

Hey John,
Well the Red Wings are all tied up with the Ducks SERIES TIED 2-2. The Pistons advance to the Eastern Conf Finals against the Cleveland Cavs. They start Monday I believe.
JJ and I are leading the BOS after one round. We both had good rounds. I shot a 44 (missed a 1.5 ft birdie putt on 18) and JJ shot a 50 against T Hofmann and D Andrews. JJ got some good pointers from M Fordyce and he is using the claw grip when putting. He is shooting good. We both had birdie putts on 16. It was a fun round of golf. I got my shot link papers yesterday from Michele Glazier. I'm working Thursday, Friday, Saturday. That Tournament is coming up real fast. Gonna walk 9 tomorrow for practice. Come on back and we will go.
Oh, the Tigers beat the St Louis Cards last night 14 to 4.

See ya for now,
BW

I'm moving into your row. Watch out ! ! ! ! !

Thanks for the info about the Haung Pu, I guess a 1/4 mile wide is enough room to turn that thing around.

I don't know that demolition is the most appropriate word...But I can say that the ring on the ceiling could "easily" disappear with a coat or two of paint. Keep in touch.
